Help!! Can anyone provide me with a credible website that discusses pregnancy depression.
So sorry to hear your feeling this way, it should be a happy time for you, but sometimes due to hormones, or situations surrounding the pregnancy, or loss of control over ones body can cause depression, i hope these websites help you. And talk to your ob/gyn.

My sister who is 20 is 6 months preg with first child, she is not in a good situation (with a guy who thinks hes too good to work, they are living with his mom who really doesnt want them there, he does not treat her well) she is extremly depressed and over emotional to the point shes had to go to the hospital, she is not normally like this at all. Does this mean that things may get worse after this baby is born? Is postpardem depression more likely with her?
Try and encourage your sister to see a professional counselor. There are many alternatives available for her so she can get out of the losing situation she is in with her deadbeat boyfriend. She should definitely talk with her doctor too – you have to be an advocate of your own health. It's hard to say if things will get better for her after the baby is born. Your hormones are all over the place, and that doesn't help matters when you're clearly not ready for parenthood.

i have a 9 yr old child and suffered very bad with PND afterwards, so mush so im completely scared of getting it again but would really like another baby. i still take medication for depression and my doctor has advised me not to come of my meds. but does anyone know if taken meds whilst prengent stop post natal depression. they use antidressents to cure PND so by taking them before hand would it stop it.
Hi
PND is a terrible thing to experience and your memories of it must be really scarey.
However you must already know that to take such meds whilst Pregnant can be dangerously and permenantly damaging to your Child.
I feel such sorrow for you,but if your Doctor has advised you not to give up your meds you really should heed him.
You, it wou;d appear, have been depressed for the past nine years.Have you had the necessary investigations to determine definitively that your illness lies here as a result of giving birth 9 years ago?And if that is the case if all treatments have been exhausted. And if you were to come off the meds, how severe would the reaction be?
You truly need some very straight forward answers from your Doctor to these questions and more to enable you clearly to weigh up your options realistically.
Good luck

financial issues, relationship problems. this is our first child and he's been talking about separation. i'm worried about getting a divorce. it's a long and complicated story and i've been depressed going on 3 weeks now. medication? therapy?…what can i do? and i am going to the doctor wed. for my glucose test and i plan on asking. 28w
Thanks A** just what i needed. some idiot with no life.
I'm sorry you're feeling this way and dealing with so much right now. Definitely talk to your doctor about how you're feeling. Therapy can be very helpful – it can give you tools to work through any issues with your husband and also you can learn relaxation techniques to help cope with stress, anxiety, etc.
Exercise is also very helpful. Obviously, being 28 weeks, nothing too rigorous, but studies have shown regular bouts of exercise like walking to be effective in treating mild to moderate depression.
I'm sure you're also trying to eat healthfully due to the pregnancy, but limiting white flours and refined sugar really helps keep your mood stable. Think whole grains, lots of fruits and veggies, and lean protein.
Finally, if you were to see your doctor and/or a psychiatrist they were to recommend medication, there ARE options out there that will be ok for you and your baby. I have a history of depression, and suffered from postpartum depression with my first. I became depressed before conceiving my second, and was on antidepressants during and after that pregnancy. My son is a very healthy 2 yr old now! Obviously, I am not a statistical sample but just want you to know that you can work with your doctors to find what is right for you. Like other posters have said, you need to take care of your health in order for your baby to be healthy, too.
Best of luck and I hope everything works out ok!

Did any Mums or Mums-to-be suffer from depression during pregnancy? I'm nearly 12wks (2nd pregnancy, 1st baby) and am suffering from the blues. I don't want to do anything or be around people. In fact, I have the urge to get on the train and get out of the county for a while (planning a trip to London to see my bro soon).
If any of you have experienced this, how did you cope? Have you had depression in the past?
Thanks for your views on such a personal subject.
I've had depression and an anxiety disorder since around the beginning of high school. I've definitely been depressed off and on throughout this pregnancy. Luckily, I've had my parents (and other family), as well as my wonderful boyfriend, to help me through my lonely, depressed times. However, there are times where I just NEED to be alone. When I get like that, I try to take at least an hour or two for myself. I drive around aimlessly, go get a snack somewhere, or even just take a walk outside; anything to have some time to myself so I can think and get past the funk.
If it starts to be a real problem for you, don't be afraid to tell your obgyn. They can give you advice on how to cope with it.
