Acne control has become almost a compulsory thing in our society where outer beauty is so important. Many people do not realize that outer beauty actually starts from the inside and what you think and your mental attitude actually affect acnes. To make things worse, people who who suffer from acne are bound to feel inadequate, self conscious and even suffer from acne depression. This type of depression is often more severe than people realize.
Acne is the result of toxins in the body that are not properly disposed thus leaving skin as the only choice. Mind and body cannot be separated so thoughts can also be expressed as acne. How do thoughts can be expressed as acne? Negative thoughts and feeling produce chemicals which are toxic acids just like the ones produce in the colon and needs to be eliminated through 5 channels.
Past experience which is depressing can be an expression of acne. Past experience such as mental and physical torture or sexual abuse, you tend to compress them. As we get older, our natural defense system for these thoughts tend to weaken and unable to contain it anymore. Thus, these expression breaks out into other form of diseases can also be acne.
Our emotion of fear and anxiety can be inter-related to acne and also expression of remembering bad memories. It is similar to holding on toxic on your face and if your stress level is beyond manageable, breakout does happen.
It is a good way to forget and donât remember too much of a bad thing. It is unpleasant to your heart and soul. It requires a lot of strength to fight it and one may need to seek help from professionals like a psychotherapist. So, start thinking positive and try to maintain a balance healthy diet as this is the best prevention not only for acne but also for other health problems as well. Now you know that the world’s best acne treatment and prevention actually comes within ourselves.

Kay Redfield Jamison's, The Night Falls Fast (about suicide) and An Unquiet Mind (about her experiences with Bipolar disorder). Also Touched with Fire, about Bipolar disorder's links with creative people.

I am a 39 year old male and have suffered through acne since my teens. I have very oily skin and all the creams and pills have provided only temporay relief. My new dermatologist recommended that I try Accutane. However, my dermatologist warned me about the side effects of this drug to your mental health such as depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. This concerns me because I had a severe depression back in my teens ( I am okay now), and I have a brother who is suffering from a major depression. I also have other immediate family members and extended family members with other mental health issues. So my question then is am I more susceptible to the mental health side effects of Accutane than a person who does not have any immediate or exteneded family members with mental health issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I believe that you are, but would discuss this seriously with your doctor. I would also log onto websites regarding accutane and read their research studies.

So many people i have talked to have said that depression can be "shaken off" or is "temporary" or "situational". why do so many people refuse to believe that depression is a clinical illness in a lot of cases, physiological, neurological….. and completely controllable with medication? what are the reasons people have refused medications or dismissed the possibility of having a treatable condition? i'd like to know what people think of depression and medication, and why people do or do not take medications….
I take depression and mental health very seriously and it's incredibly frustrating when people say just get over it.
I think that the term "depression" itself is overused and misunderstood. Many people say "I feel depressed today" not understanding that depression is so much more than just feeling sad one day.
In addition, something that also causes misundesrtanding about depression is that there are many varieties. There can be situational stress or a chemical imbalance or a lack of healthy coping mechanisms. Some people respond to medication, while others do not. Some can make improvement through cognitive behavioral therapy alone, while others do not. It's very hard for some people to understand a disorder that manifests itself so differently for different people.
